Review Sonic Generations

Written by Twisted Ideas

Sonic has been the target of a lot of criticism over the last decade or so with lack luster games, pathetic story and bad gameplay decisions. Not to say that all Sonic games since the Dreamcast have been terrible but there hasn’t been a stand out. Sonic Generations is Sega’s love letter to the fans by bringing old and new Sonic together. Is this the game we’ve been waiting for? A little bit.

News Sonic 4: Episode 2 Teaser Trailer

Written by Twisted Ideas

Finally.

A Gamespot interview reveals that Episode 2 will include Tails and Metal Sonic. The interview also mentions that it has reworked the physics and the graphics but until we see more that can mean anything. Sonic Generations had very good 2D gameplay and level design so I am hopeful that Sega can pull it off for Episode 2.

Article 2011 Club Nintendo Platinum Reward

Written by Twisted Ideas

My Club Nintendo annual reward has just came in even though the prize was announced July this year I believe. What takes them so long, I don’t know. This year’s reward is a set of 25 buttons featuring characters and items from Super Mario Bros. Now I just need to figure out a place to pin them all.

For those of you who don’t know what Club Nintendo is, it is a system where you enter PIN’s found licensed Nintendo games and downloaded games if you link your account to their site. You will have to answer quick questionnaires about how you heard and what you think about their games before you get your coins. Coins can be used towards items in Nintendo’s store such as posters and bags. Earning 300 coins will gain you Gold status and 600 for Platinum. Prizes are announced at the end of June and those who have accumulated enough for Gold or Platinum status will be sent the gift.

If you happen to own a bunch of Wii, DS or 3DS games and haven’t thrown the piece of paper with the PIN then go to club.nintendo.com and give it a look and see what you like.

Article Twisted Metal Retrospective

Written by Twisted Ideas

With the new Twisted Metal game set for release February, 2012 I want to remind everyone where the series came from.

Twisted Metal is a demolition derby game where drivers are competing for anything they wish. Players drive around massive stages arming themselves to be the last one standing. There are many destructible elements in each stage that would reveal secret passages or rooms. The series is famous for their vehicles most famous is Sweet Tooth the ice cream truck. Some vehicles appear in multiple games but the driver would often change. Each driver was competing for a single wish with no limits on time and reality. A theme to the series is to be careful what you wish for, you never know what you might get.

NBA 2K12 Review

Written by Afroson

The NBA season was in doubt as one month of basketball had been cancelled. The owners and players had come to terms on a collective bargaining agreement (CBA) on November 26, 2011. The thrill and excitement that basketball is returning on Christmas Day has made this year a special Christmas not only for me, but for basketball admirers all over the world. However as this lockout was imminent, this didn’t stop 2K SPORTS from releasing their annual basketball game to the public. Well as another year has gone by, what were the critical changes from NBA 2K11 to NBA 2K12?

Review The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword

Written by Twisted Ideas

Link is back in Nintendo’s signature The Legend of Zelda franchise. I’m going to cut to the chase right now, Skyward Sword is a good “Zelda” game even great. The problem is we have been spoiled with games like Batman Arkham City, Uncharted 3, etc that are action packed and throw you in the action right away. Zelda takes a while before the real adventure starts and the game’s action isn’t as nail biting as shooters or brawlers. Another hard sell is people without a Wii or Wii Motion Plus. Zelda is an adventure game designed to be lengthy and always has. If you are fine with that and even if you need an additional investment for Wii Motion Plus Skyward Sword is well worth your time.
