News Bargain Bin Review – Status Update

Written by Twisted Ideas

I’ve been doing weekly bargain been reviews consistently over the past few months. They have been fun to write and fun going back and see why these games were so memorable. Starting next week, I’ll be taking a hiatus on Bargain Bin Reviews. I’ve been busier lately, I’m taking a vacation at the end of the year and there are a lot of game that I’ve been getting in the holiday video game rush. Bargain Bin Reviews take up time that I could use to write reviews on current games or even an article or two. I plan to start them again in January so expect to hear about some more over looked gems in the upcoming year.

Bargain Bin Review House of the Dead: Overkill

We get a lot of zombie related media to the point where the zombie as ac concept has become boring. There are somethings that can do the zombie well and House of the Dead: Overkill is one game that does and can make it fun at the same time. As a parody of the series Overkill has turned the series from laughably bad to laughably fun. Originally on the Wii the game has been re-released several times on most platforms on at least something you would own.

Bargain Bin Review Resistance 3

Written by Twisted Ideas003

Resistance: Fall of Man was a flagship title for the PS3 during its launch. It was a new IP meant to show off the power of the console. The game use old PC FPS mechanics channeled Ratchet and Clanks unique weapons and interrelated them into the game. Resistance 2 was a misstep, adopting modern FPS conventions and didn’t do much to stand out anymore. Resistance 3 went back to its roots and built up making it the strongest of the trilogy. Even though it the end Resistance 3 is the best one and catches you up with the main events of the series and does more than both of them did.

Halloween is right around the corner so now is as good as time as any to talk about a horror game (not a fun and cheery game that I was initially planning to this week…). Instead of talking about more recent popular horror games like Slender, Five Nights at Freddie’s or Outlast, let’s look at an older game with a little more involved gameplay. Limbo was originally released in 2010 for XBLA and praised for its art direction and gameplay. While it isn’t necessarily a horror game it does have a frightening tone.

Last week the Definitive Edition of Sleeping Dogs were released on Playstation 4 and Xbox One. I think now is as good as time as any to talk about this somewhat overlooked sandbox game which can cheaply be found on last generation consoles.

Originally I wanted to write about Muramasa The Demon’s Blade/Rebirth, a beautiful looking Vanillaware game. Then I started to realize how little there was to say about Muramasa. So I’ve shifted my focus to the first Vanillaware game I’ve played and my personal favorite: Odin Sphere for the Playstation 2 and available as a PS2 Classic on PSN.

Recently Game Grumps has done a hilarious series on Trauma Center: Second Opinion. It’s a game about surgery that breaks into medical bizarreness. A port of the original DS game Trauma Center: Under the Knife, the Wii brings us Trauma Center: Second Opinion expanding and improving on the innovative gameplay of the original.
