King of Fighters XIV has gone back to the 3D visual style, not seen since Maximum Impact. The series has always been known for its 2D graphics and the hand drawn look from XII and XIII stood out from the top fighting games. The 3D graphics have been coming under some backlash but they have been slowly refining the visuals. When this game is released, hopefully it becomes visually appealing and more approachable gameplay wise.
As stated this is the first Nintendo Direct since the passing of Satoru Iwata President and CEO of Nintendo. This Nintendo Direct marks off the end of this year and the first half of next year with a strong and health lineup of new games, sequels, remakes, amiibos and surprises. Love them or hate them, there’s something here for everyone.
Since it is Halloween week, let’s talk about a recently released horror game that you may not know about. Corpse Party: Blood Drive came out of nowhere with seemingly no marketing behind it. The first two Corpse Party games were localized on the PSP and now Blood Drive is out close the chapter of Heavenly Host.
Sony’s press conference started with a video reel showing off the console’s biggest upcoming games for the PlayStation 4. Shawn Layden from Sony introduces the system and how broad the platform is trying and has become plus a long-awaited introduction.
I’ve never played an MMORPG to for an extended period of time nor have I ever been able to talk about what an expansion pack truly offers but this the Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward Dungeon Crawl trailer does show off a lot. There are several new areas and some enemies that all look fairly impressive for an MMO. MMO expansions always bring people back into the game and sometimes get some people into them.
A home demo for Final Fantasy XV was released with the purchase of Final Fantasy Type-0 this week. I got my hands on the demo and played through it the other day. Is Final Fantasy XV something that fans should be worried about?
Jason Voorhees has become the latest horror movie icon to become a playable character for the upcoming Mortal Kombat X. Freddy Krueger has a quick character with a lot of tools in Mortal Kombat 9. I wonder if Jason will have the same level of threat. Continue reading →
I play a lot of video games and I have the bad habit of buying more games before finishing the ones I have. I decided to take a honest look at my uncompleted collection and had to shake my head a bit. One of my new year’s resolutions is to finish as many of these games as I can and try not to be so distracted by trophy hunting.
For those of you curious of what games these might be I’ve compiled some lists.
Final Fantasy song DLC ended a few months ago. However DLC hasn’t completely ended. Tracks BRAVELY DEFAULT, SaGa Frontier, Romancing SaGa 1 & 2, Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger have been added as DLC for the game.
This is exciting news because Squaresoft/Square-Enix has a fairly deep library of JRPG’s under their belt. If Square is known for anything else it’s their music. Now all Sqaure-Enix needs to do is add a preview function to their DLC store because I can tell you right now that I don’t know what a lot of these songs sound like.
Another gameplay trailer for Final Fantasy XV has emerged. While it doesn’t show off too much the gameplay does give off a Kingdom Hearts vibe. It’s not the same level of over the top action later Kingdom Hearts games had but real-time combat is something that I’ve been waiting for since Final Fantasy XII when it introduced open world gameplay. Not having a battle screen in combination of with having huge monsters roaming like we’ve seen in Final Fantasy XIII on Gran Pulse is exciting; If the game focuses a lot of field combat like Xenoblade Chronicles then we can have a very fun action game with the potential of a lot of exploration.
Final Fantasy XV is still in early development for the PS4 and the Xbox One.
