As stated this is the first Nintendo Direct since the passing of Satoru Iwata President and CEO of Nintendo. This Nintendo Direct marks off the end of this year and the first half of next year with a strong and health lineup of new games, sequels, remakes, amiibos and surprises. Love them or hate them, there’s something here for everyone.
The first Humble Monthly Bundle has finally been released and the games list is confirmed as:
Saints Row IV
SanctuaryRPG: Black Edtion
Legend of Grimrock 2
So for $12 a month Humble Monthly will grant you a specifically chosen selection of seven games, though I don’t know if the amount of games is set and Legend of Grimrock 2 was an incentive for subscribing. The bundle is composed of popular and/or well received games in their respective genres. The age, visual styles and target audience vary wildly and good chance that not everything will be your cup of tea.
The popular Nickelodeon show Legend of Korra, the sequel series to Avatar the Last Air Bender is finally getting a game. As a licensed game it has to face the stigma of being a licensed game plus try to live up to the series. Is Legend of Korra worthy of living up to the show?
There have been a few Zelda spin-offs in the past but none have been this appealing. Hyrule Warriors is the most recent franchise that is adopting the mayhem driven gameplay of the Dynasty Warriors franchise. Bringing in several characters from the history of Zelda, they are looking better than ever. Is this team-up something Legendary or does it suffer the same criticisms as Dynasty Warriors always does.
I was hanging out at the EB section at FanExpo to say hi to a friend and a brand new demo caught my eye. Hyrule Warriors, the Dynasty Warriors themed Zelda game was playable at their Wii stations. This wasn’t available yesterday and it still isn’t available on the Nintendo eShop either so I was ecstatic.
The death of Robin Williams has shocked many people including myself. He was a well-known fan of video games to the point where he named his daughter Zelda. Gamers have started a petition in honor of Mr. Williams to have try to influence Nintendo to include him in the next Legend of Zelda game as a character.
Atlus’s fan favorite Persona franchise is entering the realm of fighting games. Reuniting the cast of Persona 4 and four characters from Persona 3 they will have to compete in the P1 Grand Prix to find out the reason for the Midnight Channel’s return. With the game market becoming more saturated with fighting games each year does Persona 4 Arena stand up or should it stick with RPGs.
Link is back in Nintendo’s signature The Legend of Zelda franchise. I’m going to cut to the chase right now, Skyward Sword is a good “Zelda” game even great. The problem is we have been spoiled with games like Batman Arkham City, Uncharted 3, etc that are action packed and throw you in the action right away. Zelda takes a while before the real adventure starts and the game’s action isn’t as nail biting as shooters or brawlers. Another hard sell is people without a Wii or Wii Motion Plus. Zelda is an adventure game designed to be lengthy and always has. If you are fine with that and even if you need an additional investment for Wii Motion Plus Skyward Sword is well worth your time.
