The physical version of Life is Strange was released this week. It comes with the game, 32 page art book and soundtrack, featuring 22 tracks. The art book is done with the same artistic personality as Max’s diary in the game. It’s very much like a scrapbook. The concept art are displayed as photographs taped into the book and the negative space is filled with great doodles and artwork that you may recognize from Max’s diary. The soundtrack has the fantastic indie songs from the game plus the original score. Many of the songs are fantastic but a couple of the original songs are just incidental music. They’re songs that suit the mood of the game rather than being on your music player but that’s the case with most video game soundtracks. There is a commentary that will be available for everyone who purchased either version of the game. Unfortunately, the commentary is absent from the physical version and of the time of writing should be available within the week of release.
The Life is Strange Limited Edition is one of the better standard collections editions I’ve bought; and by standard I really just mean one’s that really don’t raise the price of the game, (though more expensive than the digital and what Telltale sells at retail). There several special editions that I’ve gotten in the past that really feel like cheap pre-order bonuses with the amount of content is skimped on in the art books and soundtracks. Kirby’s Dream Collection is really the only standard special edition that I have that really matches the quality of this because it has 20 years of history to pull from. There’s so much personality put into this and other companies should strive to put more into these bundles. If you still haven’t played Life is Strange you should. It’s a powerful story and if you can find the limited edition then you’re in for an extra treat.
2015 has been a great year in gaming. There have been a strong showing from long awaited sequels, anticipated games that lived up to their hype and some surprise breakouts from new IP’s. While I haven’t reviewed all of these games throughout the year and the last few months of 2015 have been busy for me in the writing department, I have played and thoroughly enjoyed these games.
It has been a better part of a year since we’ve met Max, Chloe and the residents of Arcadia bay. For Max, this has been the longest week of her life. Life is Strange – Episode 5: Polarized will be the end to this story. How it ends and how you get there will be to you.
Life is Strange has been slow to come out again and after huge cliffhanger Episode 3 left us on, fans have been anxiously waiting. Now that it’s here will Episode 4: Dark Room be even better than the last?
Initially, I wasn’t going to talk about Life is Strange again until the finale. This really isn’t much of a review as it is my reactions due to the events that blindsided the entire game up to this point. I’m going to be as vague as possible because Life is Strange is becoming something that stands out from Telltale in the best way.
After a two week delay the second episode of Life is Strange is out. I had some worries about this game because it didn’t show you any real consequences of your decisions. Does Episode 2 show off the potential of the game’s writing.
Life is Strange Episode 2 is almost here and we will be treated to the strange adventures of Max with her colorful and cheesy commentary. This trailer is way more than we got in the short preview at the end of Episode 1 and it looks awesome. This game looks great, has good production values and managed to be very compelling with out showing us to much of the bigger picture. I have high hopes for this series.
I got my dirty little hands on the New Nintendo 3DS last Friday. While I haven’t spent as much time as I could have over the weekend with it I do have a fair amount of play time with the machine. Is this new model worthy of being a version of the 3DS line?
Life is Strange is a new episodic adventure game by Square-Enix. It has been earning attention with its strange trailers, female protagonist and its episodic nature that only Telltale Games has been attempting recently. Does Dontnod Entertainment have what it takes to pull of a game like this?
