Review Life Is Strange Episode 3: Chaos Theory

Written by Twisted Ideas

Life Is Strange™_20150521215318

Initially, I wasn’t going to talk about Life is Strange again until the finale. This really isn’t much of a review as it is my reactions due to the events that blindsided the entire game up to this point. I’m going to be as vague as possible because Life is Strange is becoming something that stands out from Telltale in the best way.

Review Drew and the Floating Labyrinth

Written by Twisted Ideas

Drew_Website_Header1

Drew and the Floating Labyrinth is one of several Canadian developed games that I saw during TCAF (Toronto Comics and Arts Festival) 2015 this past weekend. Out of all of the games I saw, this was the most visually appealing with its minimalist look and hand drawn style of the main character and most of the visuals of the game. This game was successfully greenlit from Steam Greenlight in 2014 and was demoed at TCAF for a little more PR. After solving one of the most difficult levels in the game (after seeing that no progress was made in over half an hour) I really wanted so see what the whole game had to offer. Does this Greenlight game live up to expectations upon its full release?

There aren’t too many games complete focused on boss fights but Titan Souls wants that to change. Titan Souls, in essence is a 2D version of Shadow of the Colossus. You are a mysterious hero who explores a big world bringing down the Titans. Will this approach the highs of Shadow of the Colossus?

Review White Night

Written by Twisted Ideas

white-night

White Night came to our attention with its unique film noir horror theme. This indie horror game looks to have more console penetration as where most of the most interesting horror games from indies mainly live on PC. Does this artsy horror game stand up to the horror games heavy hitters on the PC?

Bargain Bin Review Limbo

Written by Twisted Ideas

limbo-217871

Halloween is right around the corner so now is as good as time as any to talk about a horror game (not a fun and cheery game that I was initially planning to this week…). Instead of talking about more recent popular horror games like Slender, Five Nights at Freddie’s or Outlast, let’s look at an older game with a little more involved gameplay. Limbo was originally released in 2010 for XBLA and praised for its art direction and gameplay. While it isn’t necessarily a horror game it does have a frightening tone.

Review 1001 Spikes

Written by Twisted Ideas

2014-08-23-172621

Over the past few years there has been an increase of retro-style games emerging reviving old, long forgotten genres. 1001 Spikes is one of the games. Originally released in 2011 on XBLA, an enhanced version of the game has been re-released on multiple platforms. Does this tribute stand amongst indie and 8-bit greats or is it better leaving this in a pit with 1001 spikes?

Review The Wolf Among Us: Episode 1

Written by Twisted Ideas

the-wolf-among-us

Telltale has returned, not with The Walking Dead The Game Season 2 but with another graphic novel property. Based off Bill Williamham’s Fables, The Wolf Among Us is another 5 part episodic series. Taking place before the start of the original series it follows the life of Bigby The Big Bad Wolf. The Walking Dead was a surprise breakout success that put Telltale on the map. Will The Wolf Among Us be a similar success?
