I’ve been pretty quite on the blog with updates. I’ve been busy and with the Easter holiday just past I haven’t been able to write all that much lately. I have been playing a lot though. It’s been a long while since I’ve done a review round up but lets take a quick look at Box Boy, Never Alone, Woah Dave and Pokemon Shuffle.

News New Pokemon remakes announced

Written by Twisted Ideas

In Pokemon news today we are treated to the next Pokemon installments. Instead of the traditional companion game (Likely to be called “Z”), we are treated to remakes to Generation 3. Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire is set for release this November.

Personally, I don’t understand why they chose to remake Gen 3 now. With the release of Pokebank there isn’t any Pokemon that isn’t obtainable. Any new features or items are better left to be added to “Pokemon Z”. This seems like a redundant cash grab. I understand the potential appeal to drawing in old fans but it’s likely more catered to players who don’t have the DS or GBA games or hardware to take advantage of the Pokebank. You know that they’re going to add new Mega Stones and battle items to appeal to the competitive crowd too. Honestly for someone who didn’t like Ruby and Sapphire, this annoys me. I would have preferred to sit on Pokemon X and Y a while longer while waiting for the companion game but if this does bring in new players then I really can’t complain.

Review Pokemon X and Y

Pokemon finally has the makeover that people wanted for the main series to have for a long time. The 6th Generation of Pokemon is here coming to the 3DS presented with fully 3D graphics and animations. The long-standing competitive RPG has had a very good run on the DS, all 9 of them. There was Pokemon Overload for a couple of years which saw a decline in the fan base. After taking a few years to clean up for the new handheld does Pokemon X and Y play as good as it looks.

Article Pokemon X and Y Save Corruption Glitch

Written by Twisted Ideas

I have been made aware that in the recently released Pokemon X and Y if you save in Lumiose City your save game will be unusable. For players who don’t recall or haven’t reached Lumiose, it is the obnoxious city that’s in full 3D with a camera you can’t control and where you’ll probably get lost. When you try to load your save file from Lumiose your game will soft lock. There is no solution to resolve this issue other than starting a new game and saving over the corrupted file. I am unaware if it exclusively caused if you try to load your game from Lumiose City but I would recommend avoiding saving anywhere in the city.

It’s unfortunate that there’s a game ending glitch that can occur easily and accidentally. Nintendo hasn’t announced any word on the matter but a patch will undoubtably be worked on.

Article My most anticipated games of 2013

Written by Twisted Ideas

what's hot in 2013

With the lull that was 2012 behind us let’s look towards the new year. 2013 is already promising a stronger line up with both sequels and a surprising amount of new IPs. There’s a lot to look forward to this year with several games coming out within the first half of the year. I’m not aware of everything that’s coming out but are the games that have been on my radar.

Review Elemental Monster Online Card Game

Written by Twisted IdeasI stumbled across this game when looking at the free games for Playstation Plus users. I have always had a fondness of trading card games even though I haven’t bought a booster for any card game for at least eight years now so I gave it a shot. I thought it was okay at the time but was too busy but I’ve played it again recently and it is actually pretty nifty. The interesting thing with this game is that there isn’t an accompanying paper version of the game and in terms of trading card games is actually is different from Magic the Gathering, Pokemon, Yu-gi-oh and other trading card games.
